Maya is as native as they get when it comes to the Richmond and Central Virginia region. Having grown up in the area, Maya has watched her beloved hometown grow and change for the better. She and her husband of 33 years both attended and met at Virginia Commonwealth University. Maya comes into real estate with years of freelance writing and reporting about area news, national trade publications, and commercial real estate. She is also a non-fiction writer too, and has served as a pastor's wife, as well as an English as a Second Language teacher for adults in the community and online for children in China.
Maya's interest in real estate was piqued after she and her husband read the book "Rich Dad Poor Dad." She enthusiastically took a deep dive into learning all she could about real estate investing. She enjoys Richmond's REI community and continues to interact with the many folks she's met at local meetups. She and her husband have their first rental property and are planning for more in the future. Maya's drive and passion for wanting to help others realize the benefits of owning real estate eventually led her to become a REALTOR.
With her background as a writer and pastor's wife, Maya is skilled at asking questions and paying attention to the details. I enjoy serving at my kids' schools, and at church--and teaching English as a Second Language to adults and children.
