She is a Peninsula native and is the seventh of nine children, all of which, including her parents, continue to make their homes locally. Shirley and her husband of 24 years, Manuel, the son of a retired Army officer, together with their three children and Gus, their recently adopted dog, currently make their home in Yorktown. Despite the commitments that come with tending to a large family, Shirley still finds time to maintain many of her old friendships, as well as continuing to make new ones through her work. Shirley is no stranger to hard work. Before she was old enough to work with the public, she spent many evenings and weekends working alongside her father, who worked his entire career as a carpenter in the home construction business. The pay was modest and the work hard, but she'll be the first to admit that the experiences are priceless. Those humbling lessons helped to craft her professional work ethic and continue to guide her to this day. Shirley is a people person with a results-oriented reputation. In her first year of working as a real estate professional she received the nomination for the coveted 'Peninsula Rookie of the Year' Award. Since then, she has been the proud recipient of multiple Virginia Peninsula Awards for sales and service. Her proven track record is built on trust, knowledge, and a common sense approach to problem solving. Always seeking to remain relevant in the evolving real estate market, in 2008 and 2010 she earned her Accredited Buyers Representative Designation and Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource Certification, respectively. But at the end of the day, Shirley measures success not by her own accomplishments, but by your satisfaction. She is most proud of her thriving referral business, which is a testament to her personal and business principles. A self-professed optimist, Shirley sees each day as another opportunity to make something good happen.
