My career began in 1993 after an 8-year employment as a legal assistant. My responsibilities were varied, but my focus at the law firm was loan closings and property transfers.
A great man and mentor, Brian Twiddy, gave me my start in real estate. His ethics base, integrity, and love for our business and clients were contagious. He was a source of great knowledge until his premature death in 1995, and is still an inspiration to me to this day. I will always owe gratitude to him for showing the way to be a great Realtor.
For the first 10 years of my real estate life, new home sales and construction was my specialty. I loved helping many buyers undertake this grand adventure in several popular neighborhoods in the Williamsburg area. It was both rewarding and heartwarming to see lives begin in a structure that became a home. Participating in the Sales and Marketing Council of the Peninsula Home Builders Association in many capacities was a great compliment to my years as a site agent. I was honored with many accolades and awards for outstanding sales and service over those years.
Turning to general real estate, my focus became individual buyer and seller transactions. It has been just as rewarding to help the first-time buyer find their home to orchestrating the final move to a retirement community. The variety of all the skills and information required to assist a vast variety of clients has become a passion. I hold several Realtor designations that have given me the edge to be a success, (CRS) Certified Residential Specialist, ((e-pro) Internet Professional, (GRI) Graduate, Realtor Institute, (SFR) Short Sale and Foreclosure Resource and (SRS) Seller Representative Specialist. I am also proud to have graduated from the 2009 Virginia Association of Realtors' Leadership Academy (VLA).
Finally, in 2010, I found a home at Liz Moore and Associates that compliments my beginning, a boutique concept that makes a huge impact on our community by delivering the highest level of service possible to our clients.
My appointment to the Virginia Real Estate Board in 2020 has been career highlight, then named the Education Committee Chair in 2022. I have served on several state level committees including Professional Development, Standard Forms, Governance, Public Policy, Investments, Budget, Strategic Planning, Risk Management and 3 separate terms on the Board of Directors. At the local level, I served as the President of the Williamsburg Area Association of Realtors and then Williamsburg Multiple Listing Service and numerous committees. At the national level, I currently serve on the Field Political Coordinator team for Congressman Rob Wittman.
While it has been a challenge to balance family, volunteering and career, I am never too busy for my new, current, and past clients, and thrive on the multitude of challenges on my plate. It has strengthened and honed my organizational skills!
I was fortunate to have been born and raised in Williamsburg. My daughter, Leighton, graduated from the PharmD program at MCV/VCU and married in February, 2020.
