About Ben Ames

Captain Ben Ames grew up in Richmond Virginia, and he has always been enthralled with the Chesapeake Bay. Some of his fondest memories growing up were going fishing on the Bay with his father, his uncle, and his grandfather. His next most favorite memories involve attending Virginia Tech football games and cheering on the Hokies!

Ben moved from Richmond to St. Louis with his family when he was in high school. After high school, he left for the University of Alaska in Fairbanks, where he began his pilot training. Ben had been a pilot for over 20 years, with over 14,000 flight hours logged in the air. After retiring from flying, Ben joined his wife, Sue, in her real estate business, where he specialized in working with sellers.

After their children were grown, Ben moved to the Northern Neck. He now enjoys captaining his boats along the various channels of the Chesapeake Bay, growing oysters on his dock, digging for crabs, and fishing. His passion for fishing is legendary; he currently serves as President for the Northern Neck Anglers Club. If you have a question about deep water, big water, docks, crabs, oysters and/or any type of fishing, Ben is your person! 

Ben and Sue's youngest daughter graduated from the University of Oregon and is now a chemist with Pfizer in New York. Their oldest daughter graduated from William & Mary and the University of Florida; she now lives in Denver and is employed as a healthcare consultant.

Ben and Sue have properties in both Reedville and in Williamsburg, Virginia, where they specialize in real estate in the Northern Neck, Williamsburg, Newport News and various communities on the water in Eastern Virginia. With over 25 years combined experience in real estate, this team is the one to call!
