About Bekah Simmonds
Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, I'm new to Virginia, but have fallen in love with charming Richmond. I graduated from Greenville University in Greenville, Illinois with a double major in Digital Media: Graphic Design and Music Business in Spring 2016, and moved to Richmond shortly thereafter. I began working at Liz Moore and Associates in Spring 2017 as the Graphic Designer for the Richmond office. My mission in life is to intersect strategic design with great business practices, and I enjoy being able to put these ideas into practice as a part of the Marketing Department at Liz Moore. I love working with agents to create marketing materials to support their business and help implement their real estate visions into reality.
I live in downtown Richmond with my husband, Alex, and our 1 year old puppy, Atlas. I have always been creatively minded, so when I took an Introduction to Digital Media course my freshman year of college, I knew I found my career. Graphic Design is my passion because I enjoy being able to solve design problems for those who may not have the time or resources to create marketing pieces themselves. I am fascinated by the idea of creating something new, and being a Graphic Designer has allowed me to use my skills in design to serve others. The digital world is ever-changing, and I thrive on the challenge of staying on top of new trends and technologies to provide the best design service possible.
My hobbies that influence my design style and approach to life are traveling and music. I've had the opportunity to travel abroad 4 times (Northern Ireland, Israel, St. Lucia, and France), as well as throughout the United States and each time I travel, it teaches me more about the world and how I can use my skills to make the world a better place to live in. Similarly to traveling, music inspires me daily as an intangible art form that has the power to impact people for the better. I have been a musician since I was 5 years old, and music has transformed my life in indescribable ways. It influences my design work, my relationships with those around me, and teaches me how hard work and dedication can create something beautiful.
Additional things that I love: dogs, yoga, reading, collecting mugs, dresses, coffee, polaroids, playing piano, Netflix, learning, hiking, shopping, TED Talks, flowers, quality time with those I love, art museums, being outside, podcasts, dancing, Instagram, concerts, color palettes, running, personality tests, and photography.

On my bucket list:

My two favorite hobbies are photography and reading. I love how both of these can take me to different places and show me insight into the world.
I volunteer as the Director of Programming for the Richmond chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Artists. Our mission is to create opportunities for local designers to connect, learn, and strengthen the design community in our city.
I Love Richmond because
I love the historical atmosphere combined with an urban environment.
